Miss Sharmila Balanathan works in conjunction with Vascular Imaging Services to provide a range of vascular imaging, endovenous, surgical and endovascular treatments for a wide array of arterial and venous conditions,

Vascular Disease

The circulatory system is made up of arteries and veins which carry blood to and from all your organs and tissues. The arteries carry the fresh oxygenated blood from the heart and the veins carry blood back to the heart and lungs.

Certain risk factors will increase the risk of atherosclerosis:

  • High cholesterol levels
  • High triglyceride levels
  • Smoking
  • High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
  • Diabetes
  • Family history of PVD or heart disease
  • Obesity
  • Lack of exercise
  • Stroke

SHARMILA BALANATHAN

MBCHB, FRACS (Vascular)

Miss Balanathan graduated from the University of Otago in 1999 and underwent surgical training in Queensland and Victoria. She has attained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in vascular surgery in 2011 and was awarded the AVT travelling fellowship in endovascular surgery with the prestigious Angiology Group in Leipzig, Germany.

Jason Paige’s career in vascular ultrasound spans 20 years and he is one of Australia’s most highly regarded vascular sonographers.
Jason initially obtained his Bachelor of Science in 1984 and then completed examinations in the Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (Vascular) in Australia and as a Registered Vascular Technologist in the United States.
